Tom Ferguson

Partner

Tom has been involved in apartment investment and management in California since 1970. He has an economics degree from Brigham Young University. In 1981 Tom was a founder and director of the Chico-based, 350-member North Valley Property Owners Association (NVPOA).

Tom Ferguson has been engaged in real estate investments in Northern and Southern California since 1974 both as a general partner/sponsor and as an investor. Prior to that period, beginning in 1970, Tom was employed by Systech Financial Corporation. Tom graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University with an economics degree in 1968 and is a licensed California Real Estate Broker and an NASD principal. He has served as director of the Chico-based North Valley Property Owners Association (NVPOA), a group of owners and managers of apartment properties in Northern California, formerly affiliated with the California Apartment Association. Tom has taught economics to students who are Certified Apartment Manager candidates in classes sponsored by the NVPOA. He has lived in Paradise, California since 1977 where he is active in church and civic affairs. Tom coached Paradise Little League baseball teams for several years and been involved in Boy Scouts of Americal from the cub to varsity level. He and his wife Jennifer have three living children and ten grandchildren.

Bob Brewer

Partner and Attorney

Bob received his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1967 and worked as a corporate tax attorney in New York City. Bob moved to California in 1972, and he and Tom became partners in 1983. Bob has served as president & board member of the NVPOA.

Bob Brewer is an attorney and member of the California Bar Association who has been engaged in real estate syndication practice and related fields since 1971. He majored in European History and graduated cum laude from Washington and Lee University in 1964 and from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1967. He was employed as an attorney in the Tax Division of U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh and New York from 1967 to 1969. From 1969 to 1972, he was a tax attorney for the Reliance Group, Inc., in New York. In 1972 he became Corporate Counsel for Systech Financial Corporation, a subsidiary of Dillingham Corporation, based in Walnut Creek, California. He was admitted to the California bar in 1974. In 1978 he left Systech to form the law firm of Brewer & Coombs in Danville, California. Since that time, he has been Tom Ferguson's attorney in the formation and operation of partnerships sponsored by him. In September 1983, Bob and Tom formed a partnership, Ferguson & Brewer Investment Company, to engage in real estate investments for investor clients and for their own account, and that partnership was incorporated in 2001. Tom and Bob also own Ferguson & Brewer Securities, a broker dealer licensed with the NASD. Bob is a licensed California Real Estate Broker and is a Direct Placement Program Principal with the NASD. He has served as a director, and was president during 1986 and 1987, of the North Valley Property Owners Association based in Chico and was named Most Valuable Member of the Decade as part of the Tenth Anniversary of the Association. He also lectures in landlord-tenant law before various groups and serves as an arbitrator. Bob is single and lives in Paradise, California.

David Samuels

Certified Public Accountant

David has an accounting degree from California State University, Chico, and has been the controller of F&B since 1988. David specializes in partnership and real estate taxation. He conducts an annual financial review at each property.

David A. Samuels, CPA is a certified public accountant with over thirty-five years experience in real estate accounting and taxes. He has been with Ferguson & Brewer Investment Company since May, 1987. David earned his Accounting degree at California State University, Chico and a Master in Business Administration - Taxation from Golden Gate University. He has taught both accounting and taxation at Butte Community College and California State University, Chico. He has extensive experience with partnership taxation, construction accounting and tax preparation. He and his wife, Marcia, live in Chico and have three daughters and seven grandchildren.

Laurie Raucher

Certified Property Manager

Laurie has been with F&B since 1989. She attended Chico State University and has been in property management since 1976. She has served as president of NVPOA.

Laurie Raucher, CPM, has been in property management for over thirty years, and she has been the Property Manager for Ferguson & Brewer since June, 1989. She attended California State University in both Chico and Hayward, and joined Ring Brothers Management in southern California. She was an on-site manager, became Director of Apartment Operations with responsibility for 2,600 apartment units, 640 boat slips, 12,000 square feet of commercial space and 85 employees. She became the Executive Vice President of a management and syndication firm with responsibility for 1,740 apartment units and 50,000 square feet of commercial space. Laurie has received the Certified Property Manager designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management of the National Association of Realtors and is licensed with the California Department of Real Estate. She served as President of the North Valley Property Owners Association during 2000-2001. Laurie and her husband live in Butte Creek Canyon near Paradise.
